The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters at 5:00 P.M. on May 20, 2017 in Ibalong Centrum for Recreation, Legazpi City in Albay.
Both teams are coming from a loss and the desire to win is surely burning as they collide in Albay.
Aces is aiming to end their woeful three-game losing skid while the KaTropa preventing a back-to-back losses.
Alaska almost beat Barangay Ginebra last May 7 but Justin Brownlee was there to spoil their comeback.
The Aces used the fourth and final quarter to initiate its run. Coach Alex Compton’s squad climbed back after got behind with 13-point lead.
Calvin Abueva wasn’t available on that game as he was chosen to be a member of Gilas Pilipinas that competed in 2017 SEABA Championships.
Today, most likely Abueva will be available in their out-of-town game.
Vic Manuel who took over the slack left by “the Beast” where he scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Corey Jefferson helped the Aces with his 25 points but made a questionable shot in the last few seconds of that Ginebra-Alaska game.
There was still 7 seconds in the fourth quarter when he received the pass then he quickly opted for a contested jump shot. Unfortunately, the ball didn’t went in and the rest was history.
Alaska currently holds 4-3 win-loss card and Rain or Shine is just behind them with 5-4 record. Aces will do its best to protect its sixth place in the standings and will avoid to fall in either 7th or 8th seed.
The consequence of finishing in the last two mentioned spots means they’ll face a team that will have a twice-to-beat advantage.
Talk ‘N Text will have a timely support and it’s on the way as they welcome back Jayson Williams, Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario.
TNT is the only team that sent three of its best players to Philippines Men’s Basketball team and having them back in the roster means danger for the opposing basketball squads.
