The entire Philippines is now jumping for joy as Gilas Pilipinas made its revenge against defending champion team Iran as the Filipinos closes the game 87-73.
The battle of turnovers is the key factor why team Philippines won the game and took a lead as high as 16-points. Back in the second quarter it was the Gilas who executed poor play and ended up several turnovers that Iran converted it to points. The Iranians held the Filipino squad scoreless for almost 3 minutes but thanks to that Castro and De Ocampo tandem that ended to a buzzer-beater 3-pointer.
In the third quarter, Terrence Romeo was the spark as he unleashed back to back 3 pointers who finished the game with 15 points while Jayson Castro William led Gilas with 26 points.
Iran big man Hamed Haddadi got fouled out in the 4th quarter as he whacked Calvin Abueva who attempts to complete another Gilas fast break. Mohammadsamad Nik Khahbahrami led Iran in scoring with 21 points.
