On January 22, 2006 or more than nine years ago the league has witnessed a player who threatened the legendary 100-points performance of Lakers great Wilt Chamberlain. The 27-year-old Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the visiting Toronto Raptors and completed the historic performance with a win 122-104.

The Lakers was behind by 18-points against the Chris Bosh and Jalen Rose led Raptors, the Purple and Gold needed Kobe to take in charge to overcome the double-digit deficit and he never failed the team as he unleashed several 3-pointers.
“That was something that just happened,” Bryant said in after the game. “It’s tough to explain. It’s just one of those things.
“It really hasn’t, like, set in for me. It’s about the ‘W,’ that’s why I turned it on. It turned into something special. To sit here and say I grasp what happened, that would be lying.”
