Most NBA fans can recognize the name of Dwyane Wade, a three-time NBA Champ and of course a 2006 Finals MVP awardee but way back in Wade’s collegiate years there is a basketball player named Rickey Paulding.

Paulding and Missouri Tigers fans probably can still remember that day when Rickey scored 37 points against Wade’s Marquette Golden Eagles in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. Although the Tigers lost that game but his performance versus the now great Dwyane Wade is still a good memory.

He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the NBA during the 2004 NBA Draft. He got selected in the second round and ended up as the 54th overall pick.

Paulding logged 12.2 points per game during the Summer League but wasn’t able to secure a contract with the Pistons. He also tried his luck with the Sacramento Kings but was unable to make the final cut.

He was seen in the international league and was a member of Hapoel Jerusalem of Israel League, Lyon Villeurbanne, BCM Graveline Dunkerque Grand Littoral and EWE Baskets Oldenburg of German Bundesliga.
