Isaiah Thomas is back and his return to basketball court is very special for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they demolished the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 127-110.
Thomas who suffered a hip injury that puts him in the sideline during the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals against his now new team the Cavs.
His first contribution in his Cleveland debut was an assist to his fellow ex-Celtics player Jae Crowder during the first quarter. Both Crowder and Thomas along with Ante Žižić and a future draft pick were traded for Kyrie Irving before the 2017-18 NBA Season started.
The game was close from the opening quarter until the third period but the Cavs was able to find the needed spark to claim the momentum. Thomas and Dwyane Wade had a combined effort in the fourth quarter to give Cleveland its needed separation.
Isaiah Thomas scored 17 points and dished out 3 assists in his first game as a Cavalier while LeBron James added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists.
“What I like most about him is he has a chip on his shoulder for life,” James said. “That’s just who he is. When a guy’s got a chip on his shoulder for life, he’s never going to not work hard. Not going to never give it his all. Not going to never disappoint you.”
Cleveland Cavaliers breaks its three-game losing skid which started last Christmas day against their rival the Golden State Warriors.
