Probably the second best highlights of the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend is the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk contest where league’s high-flyers will compete not only for a trophy but for an immortal greatness.
Larry Nance Jr., Donovan Mitchell, Victor Oladipo and Dennis Smith Jr. all geared up to electrify the crowd with their abilities to punish the rim with their respective thunderous slam dunks.
Probably the steal of the 2018 NBA Draft, Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz won the NBA 2018 Verizon Slam Dunk competition and the entire basketball nation now starts noticing him.
Donovan helps the Jazz to strike an eleven-game winning streak before the week-long break and currently a serious contender for the 2018 NBA Rookie of the Year award racing along with the 2016 top pick Ben Simmons.
Donovan had a close scoring contest against the former Los Angeles Lakers and now with the Cleveland Cavaliers Larry Nance Jr. Both players wore retro jerseys and copied the dunks that made the said competition famous around the world.
Nance Jr. not only wore his father’s replica jersey in Phoenix but imitates the exact dunk that made Nance Sr. won the first slam dunk contest back in 1984 while for Donovan he wore Darrell Griffith’s jersey and Vince Carter’s Toronto Raptors uniform.
Victor Oladipo on the other hand ride on the popularity of Marvel’s Black Panther as he used the masked of the hero as he flew for a jam. Chadwick Boseman the Black Panther himself handed over the mask to Oladipo.
Dennis Smith Jr., made one of the sickest known dunks which popularized by former Slam Dunk champ Kobe Bryant, Jason Richardson and Isaiah Rider early in the contest.
