The Boston Celtics got defeated against the Charlotte Hornets in the opening night of the 2018-19 NBA Preseason, 97-104.
Celtics All-Stars are both back in action after got sidelined last season due to injuries. Gordon Hayward is running and jumping once again after he suffered a gruesome injury during last year’s opening night versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hayward definitely looks healthy and and looks like that he’s an NBA athlete once again. However, his performance still very far from what he’s capable prior to his fall and broke his foot.
Hayward’s first basket came from a Jaylen Brown miss where he grabbed the rebound and made a follow-up shot. Hayward finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds and an assist.
Likewise, Kyrie Irving is back in the basketball floor who also missed the Boston’s playoff run and eventually surrendered to LeBron James and the Cavs in Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals.
In contrast to Hayward’s performance, Irving looked sharp and still have his deadly jumpers as well as his crazy handles.
Hornets off-season new acquistion Tony Parker only played a limited minutes. He logged one rebound and an assist in his first game as a member of Charlotte Hornets.
During the first half of action or when the starters were all on the floor, the Celtics dominated the game.
Then on the second half, Boston’s head coach Brad Stevens decided to rest Al Horford for the entire third and fourth quarter as he unleashed his third-five lineup.
Charlotte took advantage and turned the game around as they mounted a 39-21 third quarter run.
Rookie Miles Bridges was spectacular during that Hornets run as he showcased his athleticism by throwing not one but two emphatic put-back slams.
Next game for Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets will be on October 1 Monday at 6:00 AM (PHI time).
