The 7-foot-3 Kristaps Porzingis is set to join the Dallas Mavericks after New York Knicks agreed to the deal.
He will be joined by his Knicks teammates Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke and Courtney Lee in exchange for DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and two future first round picks.
Before the execution of the trade, it was reported the the Latvian sensation is no longer happy with the Knicks and asked to be traded on Thursday.
“Porzingis, who was apparently unhappy with the Knicks’ constant losing, asked to be traded earlier on Thursday, a team statement said. But the Knicks and the Mavericks were already far along in trade talks before Porzingis lodged that request, according to two people with knowledge of the situation who were not authorized to discuss it publicly.” – New York Times
Although still in the sidelines due to his ACL injury but once healthy he will tandem another European superstar and the current favorite for the Rookie of the Year award, Luka Doncic.
Since the day he was drafted, the 23-year-old Porzingis is always linked to Dirk Nowitzki becuase of their many similarities.
New York has agreed with Dallas on trade that includes Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr., for Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan, league sources tell ESPN. Players and agents are being notified of particulars. Deal may include more draft assets.

Before his injury, Porzingis was averaging 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 swats per outing.
For the Knicks on the other hand, this move will give them more space in their salary cap. The team might be preparing for the off-season and will try to lure Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
