With few seconds remaining left in the final quarter, Brandon Ingram decided to drive hard to the basket but his shot got swatted by Celtics big-man Al Horford.
The ball went loose as it went partially to the hand of Jayson Tatum but he failed to grab it.
Rondo was able to pick it up and as time expiring he decided to throw it and the ball able to find the bottom of the net.
The Lakers able to overcome the comeback run of Boston where they almost thrown away their 18-point earlier advantage.
Los Angeles able to make a great bounce back game after getting humiliated by the Indiana Pacers where they lost by 42-point margin.
Rondo scored 17 points and dished out 10 assists. He was part of that 2008 Boston Celtics championship team and served the ball-club for nine and half years.
LeBron James added another triple-double to his already spectacular NBA career. James logged 28 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.
Kyrie Irving led Boston with his 24 points while Jayson Tatum added 24 markers.
