Both the French and the Australian squads are looking to win the bronze medal. Yet, only one team will be granted while the other will finish as the fourth-best in this year’s FIBA World Cup.
After they shocked team USA in the quarterfinals round, France got heavily hit versus team Argentina in the semi-finals.
One of those reasons for their defeat is the inspired basketball performance of Argentina’s veteran Luis Scola who made an impressive 28 points and 13 rebounds.
On that showdown team France’s Rudy Gobert got shutdown and only able to make three points but still consistent on cleaning the boards with his 11 rebounds.
For team Australia on the other hand, they fell short against Team Spain for the gold medal qualification.
That exciting match needed two extra periods to determine the winner.
Patty Mills had a game-high 34 points but still not enough to topple their long-time tormentor in the world stage. Nic Kay chipped in with 16 points along with his 11 rebounds.
