Ten-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony will have a guaranteed contract with his present team, the Portland Trail Blazers according to reports.
Melo was signed by the franchise last month with a non-guaranteed contract.
Most probably, the officials of the Portland squad amended his papers after the former scoring champion showcased his old form.
Just a week ago, Anthony received an NBA Player of the Week honors after helping the Trail Blazers to register 3-0. Likewise, he averaged 22.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.
The last time Anthony received the same honor was during his stint with the New York Knicks back in the 2014 season.
Portland’s head coach Terry Stotts is all compliments to his newfound superstar.
“Melo’s been terrific for us,” Stotts said. “He’s enjoying the experience. He’s been a breath of fresh air for us that we needed.”
“We put a kind of limit/restriction on the first game or two just because we didn’t want to extend his minutes not knowing what shape he was in,” Stotts told Spain and Company. “But now he’s playing 32-35 minutes, he played 37 minutes the other night. And for him to be out of NBA basketball for a year and be able to come in and play productive minutes for 35 minutes in an NBA game, to me, was remarkable.”
