Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo won the 2019-20 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
The man who is known as the “Greek Freak” took the prestigious award in a landslide having 432 points from the combined votes coming from sportswriters and broadcaster.
Antetokounmpo joined Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, and Kevin Garnett who won MVP and DPOY in their NBA careers.
Los Angeles Lakers Anthony Davis finished at second who earned 200 points while Rudy Gobert who won the last two awards with 187 points.
This season, the Bucks is one of the leading squads in terms of lowest allowed points against their opponent. Though several teams embraced the small-ball basketball offense, Milwaukee sticks to their tall-ball defense led by Antetoukounmpo and the Lopez brothers (Robin and Brook).
Likewise, this season Giannis is one of the strong candidates for the Most Valuable Player which he also won a season ago. If he takes the award, then he will enlist himself along with Jordan and Olajuwon who won those two mentioned accolades in a season.
