Filipino American Jordan Clarkson played a pivotal role anew, scoring a season-high 40 points in a win by the Utah Jazz against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, 134-123.

In a fast-paced battle of the two highest-ranking teams in each conference, it was the Jazz who eventually reigned supreme with a 23-5 win-loss record thus far in the tourney.

Ben Simmons tallied an almost triple-double performance and a career-best 42 points in a losing effort, on top of 12 assists and nine rebounds.

With the loss, Philadelphia now holds an 18-10 win-loss record.

During the matchup, Joel Embiid didn’t suit up for the 76ers, which the Utah Jazz capitalized on.

Clarkson netted 8 3-pointers in the win, while Donovan Mitchell recorded 24 points to erase a 14-point deficit by Philadelphia, the eastern conference’s current leader.

As the last buzzer sound was heard in the Vivint Smart Home Arena, Utah Jazz’s sixth man Clarkson was greeted by Mitchell with a “celebratory splash,” as seen in the tweet below.

Thus far, Jazz is on a roll with an eight-game winning streak. On top of that, the Quin Snyder-coached team has won 19 of their last 20 games.

For his part, Joe Ingles scored 20 points for the Jazz, while Tobias Harris tallied a season-high 36 points for the Sixers.

The Philadelphia 76ers, who fall to eighteen (18) wins, and ten (10) defeats, will face the Houston Rockets — currently with an 11-16 win-loss record — on Thursday, February 18, 2021, while the Utah Jazz, who improved to twenty-three wins (23) and five (5) defeats, will face the Los Angeles Clippers — currently with a 21-8 win-loss record — on Thursday as well, February 18, 2021.
