Stephen Curry Scores 40 Points On 10 Made Threes As The Golden State Warriors (GSW) Defeated Orlando Magic (ORL)

Stephen Curry knocked down 40 points on 14-for-26 shooting (10-for-19 from 3-point range), eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals, as the Golden State Warriors pulled away for a 111-105 victory over the injury-thinned Orlando Magic at Chase Center, February 12, 2021 (Manila time).

That put Curry at 53-for-101 (52.5%) from beyond the arc over his past eight games.

Over his past eight games, the two-time MVP had a 53-for-101 (52.5%) shooting from behind the arc. Also, he has made at least four 3-pointers in a career-best 13 straight games.

With four key players already out in the ball game, the Orlando Magic is understaffed heading to their match against the Golden State Warriors. The team then lost guard Frank Mason III who suffered a strained right groin early in the game.

In the defeat, Magic’s Nikola Vucevic netted 25 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists as Orlando lost a third straight game, seventh in eight and ninth of 11.

Draymond Green dished out 11 assists as the Warriors attempted a franchise-record 30 3-pointers in the first half and went 20 of 50 from long range overall.

After going ahead 35-22 on Oubre’s 3 at the 10:27 mark of the second, Orlando outscored Golden State 33-12 to lead 55-47 at halftime.

With the win, the Warriors won its eighth straight at home against Magic, dating to a 102-94 loss on December 3, 2012.

After today’s matchup with Orlando, Curry notched the 17th game of his career with 10 or more 3s — most in NBA history — and second this season. Klay Thompson has five and is the only other player with at least five such games.

Furthermore, Curry scored 30 or more for the fourth straight game and 13th in all. To match a career-best five-game 30-point streak, he needs to score 30 on Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets, where his former-GSW teammate Kevin Durant now plays for. From February 22 to March 3, 2016, he had done this feat.

Through six games this month, Curry is averaging 37.8 points on 56.8% shooting (50.6% from 3-point range). Only once in that span has Curry failed to eclipse the 30-point mark. In each of his past 13 games, he has hit at least four 3-pointers.
