It’s now official, the PBA trade committee just sealed the deal involving Greg Slaughter and Christian Standhardinger.
The recently crowned All-Filipino champions, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel has added one of the dominant front-court players in the league and that’s Standhardinger. The Fil-German logged 19.9 points and 12 rebounds during the bubble tournament which was sent in Pampanga in the lone conference of the PBA 45th season.
Standhardinger went from a bench warmer during his time with the San Miguel Beermen into a franchise player when he was dealt with NorthPort Batang Pier. Prior to the start of last PBA season, he is among the favorites to take home the Most Valuable Player trophy as the field went wide open after SMB’s “Kraken” Jun Mar Fajardo went sideline due to an injury.
Slaughter on the other hand shook the PBA universe after he declared an early retirement just after few days he helped Barangay Ginebra secured another Governors’ Cup trophy. He then went abroad and trained hard to add more offensive weapons to his already loaded arsenal.
Yet, there was an earlier rumor that the 7-foot gentle giant will be dealt with another team in the upcoming new season to an unknown franchise and player. This is now the moment of the big reveal and looks like that the speculations were true.
The league’s 46th season will start on April 9, 2021, and these two giants will be wearing a new set of jerseys to help their current ball-squads win championships.
