The Golden State Warriors defeats the Los Angeles Lakers on the opening night of the 75th season of the NBA with a final score of 121-114.
In the first half, the Lakers were above the Warriors in terms of scoring, but in the second half, the tables have turned and the Warriors finds themselves leading in points.
Stephen Curry had a magnificent performance, scoring 21 big points against the Lakers with ten rebounds and ten dishes despite only hitting five of his 21 attempts on the floor as he finishes the game with a triple-double. This was his first triple-double since 2016. Jordan Poole aided the team with his scoring prowess. He shocked the Lakers with his three-point shooting skills as he hit 4 three-pointers. Overall, Poole played for 25 minutes and ended the game with 20 points.
Nemanja Bjelica, the Warriors’ big man, had 15 points and had eleven boards, closing the game with a decent double-double despite the opposing team’s big men.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors outscored the Lakers with 38 points against the Lakers’ 29 points. Poole and Curry blended their scoring skills to extend their lead and to secure the win on the road.
As for the Lakers, they had the game throughout the matchup but ended up getting dominated by the Warriors. LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined 67 huge points for the Lakers but were not able to deliver the W on the opening night. James had 34 while Davis had 33. Both of them finished the game with a double-double as “The King” had 11 boards as well as “The Brow”
Russell Westbrook’s sloppy shooting continues up until this game after not having a good preseason with the Lakers. The new point guard of the Lakers only scored 8 points while shooting 4-13 from the floor, 0-4 from outside the three-point line.
Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony tallied 9 points on 3-9 shooting for his first official game as a Laker.
