Here are the scores, updates, and results of the NBA 2021-2022 Regular Season between the Philadelphia 76ers (PHI) vs the Memphis Grizzlies (MEM) on February 1, 2022 (All times are in Philippine Standard Time) at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Philadelphia 76ers defend home court against the Memphis Grizzlies after a wild and crucial game.

Tyrese Maxey finished the game with a phenomenal performance for the Sixers, scoring 33 points and racking up eight assists. Not only that, but he also blocked four shots. With under 30 seconds left to play in overtime, Maxey penetrated towards the rim and converted an acrobatic lay-up to give his team a one-point lead at 120-119 with 26.4 seconds left.

Tobias Harris added 31 big points for the Sixers. Because of the absence of Embiid, Drummond stood up for the team and took care of the paint all throughout the game, tallying 16 points and grabbing 23 rebounds on 8-11 shooting from the field. On the defensive end, he blocked four shots and stole two possessions from the Grizzlies.

“Just great efforts from everybody,” Harris shared. “We wanted this one.”

Ja Morant recorded 37 points, five rebounds, and five assists for Memphis. The athletic guard also went to the rim and hit acrobatic and crafty shots in the paint.

Morant came up big in the last seconds of the fourth quarter. The 22-year old guard drove towards the rim and sank an and-one play on the paint against the outstretched arms of Drummond, tying the game at 111-111, and had a chance to give his team a one-point lead at the charity stripe with 7.4 seconds left to play. However, he misses the big opportunity.

In overtime, after the lay-up by Maxey on the other end that gave the Sixers a one-point lead, Morant charges again towards the rim but was defended well by the home team. Morant then feeds Williams on the corner for an open three, but he misses it, continuing his shooting slump. Both teams then scramble for the rebound and it ends up in the hands of Thybulle.

Thybulle then throws it towards the other side of the court while the time expires. Maxey catches it halfway down the court and finishes a wide-open lay-up as the time goes to zero, ending the wild overtime.

“I’m happy he’s my point guard,” Drummond said.

Desmond Bane added 34 points (career-high), seven rebounds, and five three-pointers to help his team on their winning efforts against the Sixers.

“I love big games,” Bane shared after the contest. “They played well. We played well and fought. As long as we’re fighting and playing together, I’ll live with the result every night.”

After the game, Embiid celebrated together with the team in the locker room.

“He’s a great teammate,” Maxey shared. “He’s our MVP.”
