Ginebra won against the NorthPort Batang Pier in their previous game. They had control for most of the game and led by as much as 22 points. The Gin-Kings also outlasted the Batang Pier’s 11-point lead.
The Kings had a big scoring barrage in the second period and in the third period, leaving behind NorthPort in the process as they registered 27 points and 33 points, respectively while holding the Batang Pier to only score below 20 points in both quarters.
Scottie Thompson had an outstanding performance against NorthPort, tallying 23 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists, nearly finishing the game with a triple-double output. Not only that, but he also had three steals and three blocks on the defensive side of the floor. Pinto, who came off from the bench for Ginebra, had 18 points on 7-12 shooting.
Aguilar added 14 points and eight rebounds while Standhardinger had nine points and ten rebounds against NorthPort.
Meanwhile, Phoenix is coming off a dominant win against the Converge FiberXers in their previous game. They led by as much as 35 points within that matchup.
Perkins led the team with 14 points against the FiberXers but struggled on his shots as he only converted three of his 12 attempts. Most of his points came from his free-throw shots, hitting eight of his ten tries from the charity stripe. Matthew Wright had a terrible shooting game, hitting only five of his 24 total looks and ended up with 15 points. In addition, he also had seven turnovers.
Melecio had 12 points while he came from the secondary cast of the Fuel Masters. Muyang added ten points against Converge.
