Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup Quarterfinals between the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the NLEX Road Warriors scheduled on July 29, 2022, at 3:00 PM.
The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the NLEX Road Warriors are going to have their second game in their best-of-three series in the quarterfinals.
Magnolia has a chance to close out the series against NLEX and advance to the Semifinals where they will face the reigning champions of the conference, the TNT Tropang Giga. Magnolia and TNT were the ones to battle it out in the previous finals where the Hotshots lost 4-1.
It was a tightly contested period in the first quarter, but in the following quarter, Magnolia surged with a 40-point period and held the Road Warriors to only log in 21 points. This massive avalanche by Magnolia paved the way for them to take control for the rest of the match and later take the victory. In addition, their winning deficit ballooned by as much as 17 points against NLEX.
NLEX was not able to reduce and take the Hotshots’ winning margin in the following periods even though they outscored them in every quarter in the second half of the contest.
Both teams had huge amounts of firepower from their secondary casts as Magnolia had 47 points while NLEX had 48 points from their bench.
Barroca led Magnolia with 24 points, 18 of those markers were from the first half alone. Not only that, but the veteran guard also had seven boards and two steals against the Road Warriors while NLEX’s Semerad tallied 19 points on 8-13 shooting.
The Guiao-mentored squad was undermanned in game one as they played without Kevin Alas and Kris Rosales. Both players were in health and safety protocols at that time. Fortunately, both players are expected to play for their approaching clash against the Hotshots.
Sangalang added 12 points while Jalalon maintains his versatility on the court, chalking up ten points, five rebounds, and five assists. Oftana registered 15 points while Trollano, who entered as a second unit, also had 15 points for NLEX.
Abueva and Lee added 26 combined points as they came from the bench, 13 markers from both of the experienced Hotshots.
