Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup Quarterfinals between the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the NLEX Road Warriors scheduled on July 31, 2022, at 4:30 PM.
The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the NLEX Road Warriors are going to have their third and final skirmish against each other in their best-of-three series in the quarterfinals.
Within their series, Magnolia struck first blood and in the following game, NLEX made up for their loss and beat the Hotshots, forcing a decider contest that will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Road Warriors, especially Kevin Alas, dominated the Hotshots in Game 2 and finished the game with a final score of 90-77.
NLEX had a huge offensive barrage in the second period where they scored 30 points and limited Magnolia to only log in 14 points. Because of this, the Road Warriors were able to take advantage of the Hotshots’ low-scoring output and later earn a victory at the end of the matchup.
The Hotshots were able to outscore the Road Warriors in the third quarter, but it was already too late. Their comeback efforts were not enough to bring down NLEX’s winning difference which ballooned by as much as 26 points.
NLEX’s Alas tallied 30 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal on 11-18 shooting against Magnolia, 11 of those attempts were from three-point country where he sank six of them. Calvin Abueva, who came as a second unit for coach Victolero, had a subtle 20-point performance alongside seven boards, and four dishes.
Only Alas and Oftana were able to record double-digit scores after the final buzzer of the game. Oftana racked up ten points and nine rebounds, almost ending the match with a double-double stat line.
Semerad came close with nine points while Trollano, Varilla, and QuiƱahan registered 24 combined points, eight markers from the three of them.
Magnolia’s 77-point game is the lowest output that any team finished with within the first round of the current post-eliminations.
Paul Lee added 12 points while Sangalang had ten points as he converted only four of his 12 looks. Dionisio had 11 points while Barroca, who had a terrific game for Magnolia in Game one, only had four points in the losing effort against the Road Warriors.
