Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup between the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the TerraFirma Dyip scheduled on July 16, 2022, at 5:15 PM.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the TerraFirma Dyip are going to battle against each other this afternoon. Both teams are among the furthest squads in the standings category with subpar records. Rain or Shine currently has three wins and six losses while TerraFirma is still yet to win a game as they enter their last two contests in the conference with zero victories and nine beatings.
Rain or Shine added another win as they knocked down the Blackwater Bossing in their past clash, earning their second straight victory.
The Elasto Painters had a poor performance at the end of the second half as they trailed the Bossing’s lead. To make up for their weak output in the second quarter, they dropped a 37-point scoring barrage against Blackwater in the third period, a huge run that the Bossing never recovered from, resulting in a dub for the Rain or Shine group.
The non-starters of the E-Painters were able to produce 54 bench points against the opposing team and were led by “Sting Rey”, who had 26 big points, seven rebounds, and four assists while hitting seven of his 12 tries. Mamuyac added 20 points and five boards while Belga, who struggled on his shots, had 12 points for the squad.
Rain or Shine was able to lead by as much as 19 points against Blackwater.
On the other hand, TerraFirma is coming off two challenging and difficult matchups. They faced the Magnolia Hotshots, the first of their two recent matches, where they got heavily crushed. They also had a showdown against the San Miguel Beermen, where they almost had their first win in the Philippine Cup.
The TerraFirma team had an exciting and nail-biting contest as they gradually reduce the Beermen’s lead in the second half of the game. Even though the top seed of the conference had a 13-point lead, the Dyips still managed to force overtime.
However, they were not able to defeat the powerhouse in the extended period because of the brilliance of June Mar Fajardo, who made the go-ahead and-one bucket that tied the scoreboard in the last seconds of the matchup. “The Kraken” was then able to calmly make the bonus free throw on the charity stripe after that.
On the other end, as the game was about to come to a close, Gomez de Liaño had a strong drive towards the rim, he then attempted a left-handed layup that would give his team a securing one-point lead, but he was short on his shot, resulting in another deflating loss for TerraFirma.
Eric Camson had 20 points and shocked San Miguel with four splashes from three-point territory out of his seven treys while Gomez de Liaño tallied 19 points on 6-12 shooting as he came from the bench.
Calvo played as a scorer and a playmaker against the Beermen in this contest, scoring 19 points while dishing out eight dimes. He was also able to steal three possessions from them. Cahilig added 17 points while Mina registered 13 points in the losing effort.
