Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup between the San Miguel Beermen and the Meralco Bolts scheduled on July 17, 2022, at 4:30 PM.
The San Miguel Beermen and the Meralco Bolts are going to clash against each other this afternoon. In the standings department, San Miguel is still at the top with nine wins and a loss while the Bolts, who are at the sixth spot, have five wins and four losses.
The Beermen had a tightly contested match against the TerraFirma Dyip in their recent game where they won in overtime, earning their sixth consecutive victory in the conference.
The Austria-mentored squad was not able to hold the offensive surge by TerraFirma in the fourth period where they gradually reduced the winning difference of San Miguel and at the end of the contest, they reached overtime.
In the extended period, the Beermen outscored the opposing team with 11 points against their ten points, giving the Dyip squad their ninth straight fall.
June Mar Fajardo was the Beerman who gave the team a one-point lead in the last seconds of overtime as he used his low-post offensive skills to deliver an and-one bucket, tying the scoreboards at 108-109. “The Kraken” then swishes the bonus shot on the foul line, adding a point to their scores overall. The six-time MVP finished with an outstanding performance, tallying 26 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, nearly ending the contest with a triple-double output.
Lassiter added 23 points, eight dishes, seven boards, and sank four three-point shots while Perez registered 20 points and four steals on 10-19 shooting for San Miguel against the Dyip team.
Pessumal had 13 points, Tautuaa logged in ten points, while Zamar scored nine points as they came as a second unit for the starters.
As for the Bolts, they are looking to bounce back after their defeat against the Magnolia Timplados Hotshots in their previous game.
Even though the Hotshots were in front by six points with just less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, Meralco was still able to force overtime because of Bong Quinto, who was able to convert a putback shot off of a miss by Cliff Hodge in the last seconds of the game.
However, Meralco was not able to carry their scoring against the Hotshots in overtime and faced an 11-2 run, resulting in their fourth loss in the Philippine Cup.
Newsome, who played for 44 minutes against Magnolia, tallied 24 points, five assists, and four boards while Black and Quinto had 26 combined points in the losing effort, 13 from both of them. Almazan added eight points and 18 boards.
