The man who is known as the “Blur” showcased his lethal shooting prowess in the final moments of Game 3 versus the Magnolia Hotshots during Game 3 of their semi-finals round.
Jayson Castro who is once known as the best point guard in Asia drilled a three-pointer as the remaining time in the fourth quarter ran out. They were down by two points, 92-90 and according to him, he has no choice but to make a hail mary shot.
“For me, either shoot or miss ‘yun, good shot pa rin para sa akin. ‘Yun ‘yung binigay ng defense. As a veteran, kailangan ko itira ‘yun. At the same time, kailangan na kailangan naming manalo ng Game Three,” said Castro.
TNT Tropang Giga head coach Chot Reyes felt relieved after the game which the win could go to the other team. To defeat Magnolia, one of their strategies is to put more focus on their offense.
“We spoke briefly about our defense, but we focused on our offense, what we were going to do after,” related Reyes. “Because whatever happens, whether Magnolia scores or not, we had to score. That was ran exactly the way we wanted, quick inbound to Jayson and the bigs giving him the screen,” said Reyes.
For the opposing team, Mark Barroca could be also the hero of their squad only if they snagged the victory. Barroca went hard to the basket where he beat Kelly Williams and RR Pogoy on two possessions to put the Hotshots ahead by two points.
Without calling a timeout, immediately TNT went to Castro where he was given a nice screen by Williams and Poy Erram so that he can have a clean look to the basket. Without hesitation, Castrol launched a three-pointer and the ball found the bottom of the net.
Talk ‘N Text scoring top-notcher went to Erram where he made 22 points with eight rebounds. Castro delivered 16 markers while Mikey Williams and Glenn Khobuntin chipped in with 15 points respectively.
Game 3 will resume this coming Wednesday at the Big Dome. Gametime will be at 6:00 PM.
