Both teams featured in the finals last season in the same conference and the Tropang Giga took the highest honor against the Hotshots, 4-1.

And yet again, TNT is looking to repeat this over Magnolia one more time as they gear up for their upcoming contest.

The Tropang Giga had an easy path to the semifinals as they took care of the Converge FiberXers in the first round of the post-eliminations, taking advantage of their twice-to-beat edge.

Meanwhile, Magnolia endured three matchups with the NLEX Road Warriors in their best-of-three series. They took the victory in game one but lost in the following match. The Hotshots then went on to close their first chapter against the Road Warriors with an overtime win.

Magnolia and TNT both finished the elimination round with eight wins and three setbacks. The only difference is that Magnolia ended it with a terrific seven-game winning streak as they enter the playoffs.

The main target of Magnolia’s defensive strategies should be TNT’s Mikey Williams, who dominated in their finals dispute last year, tallying 27.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists as he won the Finals MVP. Not only that, but Williams also is coming off from a 26-point output against the FiberXers last week.

“Titingnan namin kung ano ‘yung magiging resulta ng una naming magiging defensive scheme sa kanya,” Victolero said.

“It’s a long series naman pero of course important pa rin Game One,” he added. “We’ll try to see first kung ‘yung ginawa naming preparation para sa kanya okay. Kapag hindi back to the drawing board.”
