Streaky shooter Matthew Wright officially said goodbye to his PBA team, the Phoenix LPG Fuel Masters on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Fil-Canadian published his statement via his Instagram account. He played with the Phoenix franchise since 2016after he got selected from the 2016 PBA Special Draft.
“It has been an unforgettable 6 years with the @fuelmasters. Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, ball boys, and bosses for being a part of this chapter in my life. Most importantly thank you to all the fans who have supported me through thick and thin. I love you all,” Wright posted on his official social media account.
His now former ball club also made their statement on Twitter expressing their acceptance of the separation and saying good luck to their leading offensive player.
“The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters wish Matthew Wright all the best in his future endeavors. The team is saddened to see its longest-tenured player go but also grateful for all the blood, sweat, and tears he put into this franchise.”
However, Wright nor Phoenix didn’t mention where is the next destination of the streaky shooter. It is rumored that he may go to Japan to join one of B.League’s ball clubs or if he stays in the PBA, it was said that Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is one of the strongest bidders of his service.
