Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup between the Meralco Bolts and the Terrafirma Dyip scheduled on October 7, 2022, at 3:00 PM.
The Bolts will try to end their two-game slump while the Dyip wanted to do the same as they currently nursing a three-game losing skid and are still winless in this ongoing 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Let’s start with trivia, shall we? If you don’t know it yet, did you know that Terrafirma’s current import is also a naturalized player of the Indonesia national basketball team under former Gilas Pilipinas head coach Rajko Toroman? That’s how good Prosper is and usually the marked man each time the Dyip is on their official PBA games.
Welp, that’s what head coach Norman Black is also bound to do, that’s to slow down the Dominican-born talent.
“Our defense against Prosper will be key,” said Black.
Prosper got clamped down when his squad faced the Rain or Shine Elasto Painter last October 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. He struggled to find his offense and was only held to a 20-point output on a dismal 7-of-23 shooting from the field. The 6-foot-10 center was averaging 42 points and 22 rebounds in their initial two-game schedule.
For the Meralco camp, on the other hand, suffered back-to-back defeats against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Northport Batang Pier. One of their key players, Chris Newsome is expected to remain on the sidelines as he is scheduled for a three-game rest to heal his injury.
“Hopefully, this week of preparations will help us adjust to the loss of Chris Newsome, who will be out for at least three games,” revealed Black.
The Bolts’ import Johnny O’Bryant logged sterling productions on their first two trips in this year’s version of the PBA second conference where he now averaging 30.5 points and 19 boards. It’s clear that Meralco’s local players need to step up their game not only to take care of the scoring and playmaking slack left by Newsome but also to complement the basketball skills of their foreign reinforcement.
