Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup between the Phoenix Super LPG Fuelmasters and the Rain or Shine Elastopainters scheduled on October 26, 2022, at 3:00 PM live from the Ynares Center in the City of Antipolo, Rizal.
The Fuelmasters wanted to pick up where they left off by keeping their winning momentum and extending their hot streak to four in a row while the Elastopainters will try to spark their own series of victory parades as this year’s PBA second conference resumes in Antipolo.
After starting the tournament with three straight defeats, Phoenix has risen from the ashes and now enjoying their 3-3 card but most importantly, they’re back in playoff contention as the Commissioner’s Cup goes deeper in its mid-year contest.
One of the adjustments made by head coach Topex Robinson is to make tweaks within their system instead of analyzing what the opponent will bring to the table each time they step on the basketball hardcourt.
“We made a lot of mistakes in this game so rather than focus on the competition we’re just gonna keep on focusing on us,” said Robinson. “We need to improve.”
One of the Super LPG players who most likely took that statement by heart is their prized rookie Tyler Tio who is currently averaging 16.6 points and five assists per outing. The 5-foot-11 guard was awarded PBA Player of the Week honors for his superb performance. The other one is Encho Serrano who dropped 14 points and a couple of dimes against the Meralco Bolts last October 19.
“So whoever it is that’s left we don’t really give much attention. No disrespect, they’re really strong teams, but we focus on us,” coach Robinson added.
Meanwhile, Rain or Shine is fresh from snapping its back-to-back defeats and head coach Yeng Guiao wanted his own version of the youth squad to improve their mentality with regard to handling game losses.
“Alam mo, dadaan talaga ‘yung team sa ups and downs,” said Guiao. “We just want to test our character when we’re down, paano kami babangon. So nakita ko ‘yung mga bata matapang lumaban.”
Coincidentally, ROS’ most recent opponent was also Meralco where they have more points in their winning margin. Gian Mamuyac and Mike Nieto had a combined 42 points to complement the output of their import Steve Taylor Jr., who delivered 22 points and 15 rebounds performance.
