The Gin Kings will try to make a quick bounce-back game which will put them back on the PBA winning tracks while the Batang Pier wanted to keep their winning streak and extend it to four in a row against their potential quarterfinals foe.
The Gin Kings demonstrated its classic “Never-Say-Die” spirit when they faced the NLEX Road Warriors last Friday. They were successful in making a chase in the final quarter and pushed the game into overtime they had that opportunity to have another dramatic ending but that time Justin Brownlee wasn’t able to put the ball under the net.
In that extra period, they had early control of the game until the boys of head coach Frankie Lim decided to take over and clamped down the gunners of Ginebra. NLEX looks like was on a mission in that said match after they got defeated by a cellar dweller team, the Terrafirma Dyip several days ago.
“We were motivated coming from the terrible loss to Terrafirma. Hindi kami pwedeng matalo tonight,” said Trollano. “We also had a deal with coach, it gave us a little more energy para makuha ang panalo.”
Brownlee was the top-scorer of that game where he delivered 39 points along with 11 rebounds. The reigning league’s Most Valuable Player Scottie Thompson had 17 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and three steals while Japeth Aguilar and Jamie Malonzo each logged 13 points and 12 markers respectively.
Northport on the other hand, the squad of head coach Pido Jarencio is currently scorching hot as they’re looking on their +3 streak posted in the PBA standings.
“We’ll try to stretch our run and hope for the best o kung ano man ang seeding na makuha namin,” said Jarencio.
The Batang Pier is coming from a blowout win versus the young and up-tempo squad, the Converge FiberXers last November 20 at the Big Dome.
Robert Bolick and Will Navarro carried the scoring banner of NorthPort as they registered 26 and 29 points respectively while their import, Prince Ibeh who is a defensive-minded foreign reinforcement player chipped in with his 19 points, 15 rebounds, and eight swats.
