Here are the scores, updates, and results of the NBA 2022-2023 Regular Season between the Boston Celtics (BOS) and the Los Angeles Clippers (LAC) on December 30, 2022 (All times are in Philippine Standard Time) at the TD Garden.
The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Clippers with a final score of 116-110 behind the brilliant performances of Brown and Tatum.
Boston remains atop the standings category in the Eastern Conference as they beat the well-oiled Clippers who have won four out of their five contests prior to their setback against the Celtics.
This victory is a major bounce back for Boston against the Clippers since they had their worst loss of the season in Los Angeles where they got beaten by 20 points.
“We definitely wanted to play better than we played last time,” Brown shared. “Those guys beat us up pretty bad in L.A. So we wanted to change the narrative tonight on our home floor and come out and get a win.”
Currently, Boston has the league’s best record, but things did not go their way earlier this month as they were visiting the West Coast. They faced the Warriors for an epic NBA Finals rematch and lost. Their next matchup was in Los Angeles where they had another loss against the Clippers, receiving back-to-back defeats in the road.
These two losses started a losing slump for the Celtics in which they lost five out of their six contests. Over the rest of the season, they are now 25-5.
“None of us enjoyed what happened in L.A.,” said assistant coach Damon Stoudamire. “We’re all very prideful. So I knew they were going to come back and have an edge to them.”
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the team with 29 points from both of them, combining up to 58 points in total against the Clippers. Smart added 17 points and nine assists while White had 15.
The Celtics had control of the contest for all throughout the first half, but in the third period, the Clippers had a massive run, scoring 36 points while limiting the home squad to only tally in 24 points. However, Boston manage to hold their ground in the fourth quarter and sealed the win.
Kawhi Leonard was unfazed from start to finish, registering 26 points, eight boards while hitting 11 of his 16 tries. George added 24 points while playing for 40 minutes while Powell, who came off from the secondary cast of Los Angeles, had 19 for the game.
The Celtics improve to 26-10 while the Clippers fall to 21-16.
