Here are the scores, updates, and results of the NBA 2022-2023 Regular Season between the Los Angeles Lakers (LAL) and the Denver Nuggets (DEN) on December 17, 2022 (All times are in Philippine Standard Time) at the Crypto.com Arena.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Denver Nuggets on their home court with a final score of 126-108. It was a tightly contested matchup through quarters 1 to 3 while both teams were leading against each other by five to ten points. But in the fourth quarter, the Lakers blazed with 33 points while limiting the opposing team to only tally 20 points on their end.
Unfortunately for Los Angeles, Davis left the game before halftime due to a right foot injury, but he was still able to produce ten points and four blocks against Denver.
The purple and gold squad faced a massive run by the Nuggets in the last minutes of the second quarter that resulted in them trailing by a big margin. However, the Lakers still had some tricks up on their sleeves and ended the first half with a 64-65 score.
Thomas Bryant stood up for the Lakers as he came off from the second cast and filled the all-star big man’s shoes, chalking up 21 points, six boards, and dropping nine of his 11 attempts on the floor.
The Lakers had their biggest winning difference in the fourth quarter where they ballooned it by as much as 22 points, a lead that the Nuggets never came back.
“The pace changed, and the game changed,” Westbrook shared. “You could see it. When we play that way, it’s hard to beat us.”
LeBron James posted 30 points, nine rebounds, and four assists while Russell Westbrook added another triple-double stat line under his belt, recording 15 points, 12 dishes, and 11 boards. Reaves added 16 points on their winning efforts against the Nuggets.
This major win against the third-best team in the west was particularly satisfying as it follows a deflating loss against the Boston Celtics where the Lakers blew a lead in the late stages of the contest.
“It’s huge, especially after the heartbreak loss we had last time against Boston,” James said after the game. “We started to get defensive stops, and we were able to get out and execute offensively.”
The reigning MVP almost had a triple-double in the losing effort against Los Angeles, registering 25 points, 11 boards, and eight dimes while Murray added 23 points.
As Davis went up for a layup under the basket, he landed awkwardly and apparently got hurt. The star big man had X-rays within the arena. According to coach Darvin Ham, Davis will be evaluated on Saturday before they will determine the severity of the injury.
