The Bay Area Dragons are only one win away from advancing to the Commissioner’s Cup Finals as they defeat the San Miguel Beermen in their recent game with a final score of 114-95.

Bay Area led for the most of the matchup except in the first minutes of the first where the Beermen had a 10-2 run to start Game 2, but the Dragons still managed to inch their way gradually and finished with a 26-25 quarter. After that, they took control in the following quarters and ended up with the big dub.

In addition, the Dragons also shot unfairly against the powerhouse San Miguel as they drained 58% of their shots overall, 54% from outside the three-point range. Because of their phenomenal shooting, Bay Area was able to lead by as much as 21 points at one point in the contest.

SMB had no match against the prolific shooting of Andrew Nicholson. The big man had 34 points, 16 boards, and went 6-9 on his three-point looks. Kobey Lam added 25 points and went 10-13 on his shots while also draining four of his six attempts from the three-point country.

As for the Beermen, they converted 48% of their shots, but only knocked down seven of their 20 attempts from beyond the arc. The Beermen must win this upcoming game against the Dragons in order to keep their hopes alive to reach the biggest stage of the playoffs.

June Mar Fajardo had magnificent outputs for the Austria-mentored squad, but it was not enough to take the victory against Bay Area. “The Kraken” produced 35 big points, ten boards, and a block while shooting 15-20 from the field. San Miguel’s import, Devon Scott, only had 14 points while Lassiter had 15 points. As they pursue a spot in the Finals, Scott must showcase his A game in their next skirmish against the Dragons.

Both teams will clash again at 4:30 PM on December 18 at the Philsports Arena.
