Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Playoffs Game 1 between the San Miguel Beermen and the Converge FiberXers scheduled on December 7, 2022, at 3:00 PM live from the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Metro Manila.
It’s game 1 between the Beermen and the FiberXers this afternoon in Pasig. It’ll be a best-of-five showdown for the two basketball protagonists and the team that will snag the opening match may dictate the momentum of the entire series.
In their only face-off in the elimination round, it was Converge that reigned supreme against the mighty San Miguel. The young-laden squad was in total control of that match where they made a scoring advantage of as high as 17 points.
On the surface, it appears that the defending champion Beermen has the advantage but the adjustment made by Converge to bring the up-tempo type of basketball similar to what we see in the amateur ranks seems to be working for them and that was part of the main factors why they’re in the playoffs right now.
However, there’ll be a significant challenge for head coach Aldin Ayo and his troops in this quarterfinals. Their squad will now be expecting a full and healthy roster of San Miguel, bringing them to several championships, especially in the All-Filipino tournament.
June Mar Fajardo is back in harness and is in his usual form showing that the minor injury he got several weeks ago didn’t affect his ability to perform on the basketball court. Likewise, Terrence Romeo already made an appearance and log some minutes during their game against the Meralco Bolts last December 2.
“Now we have June Mar so I think we have a good chance of playing better with June Mar around because we have someone who can help us with the boards, score, and be a presence inside the paint,” said SMB deputy coach Jorge Gallent.
Apart from the return of their two local players, San Miguel’s import Devon Scott is now much more familiar with the Filipino style of basketball. When he first used the jersey of SMB was against Converge where they lost and this could be his payback game.
“It’s gonna be a battle, for sure,” said Scott.
