The Beermen will try to solve on what went wrong in their semis opening showdown while the Dragons will keep the winning momentum and will use their come-from-behind victory to snag another victory which will give them a 2-0 series advantage.
During the elimination round, Bay Area looks unbeatable as they made rampage after rampage against the majority of the PBA local teams even that includes San Miguel where they have shown no mercy in their lone battle in the first round of the tournament.
Yet, it’s now a different Beermen they’re trying to dispose of in the playoffs. June Mar Fajardo and Terrence Romeo are now both back in harness though they still have several key players in their team’s injury list like Vic Manuel and Mo Tautuaa.
The majority of the quarters were controlled by the defending champions where they led by as much as 16 points. That scoring rally was led by Terrence Romeo, Marcio Lassiter, and CJ Perez who found their shooting range early in the game.
However, head coach Brian Goorjian unleashed his surprise in the final period where he fully unleashed Andrew Nicholson along with the younger legs of his squad to complement their import domination. Though the Dragons are up one game versus San Miguel, the Dragon’s chief tactician knows that a major adjustment from their opponent is on the way.
“The playoffs is totally different than the regular season. You’re playing the same team maybe five times. There’s nothing in this,” said Goorjian. “The team that makes the adjustments, that gets better as the series goes on, is the team that’s gonna win this series. This is just one game so….” he added.
SMB’s head coach Jorge Gallent already made a hint of what is coming in order to wither the storm and put the series in an even playing field once more.
“Aggressiveness, playing team offense and team defense. That’s the main thing,” said Gallent.
