Joshua Munzon and Kevin Ferrer Trade Is Now Approved

Former number one overall pick Joshua Munzon is going to wear the NorthPort Batang Pier uniform for the upcoming conference as his trade for Kevin Ferrer has now an approval seal from the Commissioner’s office.

The original trade proposal between NorthPort and the Terrafirma Dyip includes Javi Gomez De Llano (Ter) for Ferrer, Jesper Ayaay, and a future second-round pick. Later it was modified and then called a done deal between the two franchises.

During the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, the Fil-Am averaged 8.75 points and 1.17 steals per game. His current individual stat decreased particularly in scoring compared to his rookie season where he logged 16.6 points. Though he was selected as the number 1 pick during the 2020 PBA Draft, he wasn’t able to bag the prestigious Rookie of the Year honors which went to TNT Tropang Giga guard Mikey Williams.

On the other hand, Ferrer was originally selected by the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel during the 2016 PBA Spedical Draft. Among his batchmates are RR Pogoy, Matthew Wright, and Jio Jalalon to name a few. On June 2019, he was traded to NorthPort along with Sol Mercado and Jervy Cruz for Stanley Pringle. The former UST Growling Tigers had a stellar performance in his Batang Pier debut where he registered 23 points, probably his way to greet his former collegiate head coach Pido Jarencio.
