The NorthPort Batang Pier is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Terrafirma Dyip at 3:00 PM on February 22, 2023 live from the PhilSports Arena at Pasig City, Metro Manila.

The Batang Pier is the only team remaining in the tournament which is still winless and they wanted to break that this afternoon while the Dyip eyes their third win and improves their chances to make it to the top-8.

NorthPort coach Bonnie Tan remains optimistic and is looking forward to snapping the team’s losing streak as they face Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Governors Cup. Despite being winless in six games, Tan is confident that his team will be able to face the challenge head-on, “As a coach, kung ano man ang ibigay sa iyo, you have to face it…Kahit ano’ng challenge iyan haharapin natin, kahit dehado.”

The addition of former MVP Arwind Santos, who is set to make his conference debut after a knee procedure kept him out for four months, is expected to give the team a boost in height and experience. Along with Santos, Robert Bolick, Kevin Murphy, Arvin Tolentino, and ex-Dyip Joshua Munzon are expected to step up and contribute to the team’s success. Tan is looking for ways to win and is confident that his team is up to the challenge, “Kailangan laban lang, find ways to win.”

However, the Batang Pier is facing a severe test against Terrafirma Dyip, who is looking to snap out of its three-game losing streak. Terrafirma’s import, Jordan Williams, is expected to bounce back from his 14-point performance in their last game against Phoenix Super LPG. Coach Johnedel Cardel is looking for solid performances from locals Juami Tiongson, Eric Camson, and Alex Cabagnot to support the import.

Despite the challenges, Tan is impressed by the resilience of his team and their ability to stay united despite the losing streak, “Lagi ring nag-uusap, and as a team naman kami humahanap ng paraan. Matibay pa rin ‘yung camaraderie ng team.” Tan is focused on the present and is looking forward to the next game, hoping that the team will finally get their first win, “We’re not looking that far ahead, sa mga susunod na laban. Dito muna sa next game and sana makakuha ng unang panalo.”
