The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Meralco Bolts at 6:45 PM on February 9, 2023 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

The Beermen are targeting their fifth victory this conference at the same time while protecting their perfect record at 4-0 while the Bolts will try to strike a back-to-back win to start their own version of a winning streak. These are the actions on tonight’s PBA Thursday main event.

Meralco doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake when they faced Terrafirma Dyip last January 28 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo where they got surprised by not the import of their opponent but coming from a veteran point guard who torched them with a 30-point performance and that’s coming from Juami Tiongson.

Against Blackwater Bossing, head coach Norman Black and his troops were itching for a bounce-back win and they did where they pressed the opposing squad with a lopsided win, 125-99.

Allein Maliksi turned out to be their ace-scoring player in that match where he made 30 points while their electrifying import KJ McDaniels added 24 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists.

For San Miguel on the other hand, their match against their sister team, the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots was considered as their litmus test now that they got a new import and it turns out that they passed it by an escape victory, 100-98.

Newly installed bench tactician of the Beermen, Jorge Gallent may have already identified their weak areas that need to be addressed immediately if they wanted to keep their immaculate win-loss record.

“As I always said, we have to play as a unit to progress offensively,” said Gallent. “We struggled with our offense in the first half because we weren’t playing defense. We also weren’t reversing the ball and we’re just playing one-on-one,” Gallent added.

In the following half of that game, according to the stat sheet, it turns out that the San Miguel playing crew listened to their coach and they ended the game having six players scored in double figures led by their import Cameron Clark who made 19 points, and ten rebounds.
