The Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Bossing at 3:00 PM on March 8, 2023 live from the Ynares Center at Antipolo City, Rizal.
The Hotshots are gunning for their third straight victory and take a shot to finish at the top-four when the elimination round ends while the Bossing wanted a graceful exit from their third conference campaign as they’re already listed out from playoffs contention.
It’s crunch time for Magnolia as they go up against Blackwater on Wednesday with their sights set on securing a top-four spot in the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals. While it may seem like a long shot, coach Chito Victolero is determined to have his team’s mindset right, emphasizing the importance of this game for their playoff momentum. Victolero knows that their slim chances of making the top four rest on their ability to take care of business against Blackwater first.
Meanwhile, Blackwater has already been eliminated from the running for the quarterfinals but would like to end the season on a high note with a win over Magnolia.
Magnolia’s win over Terrafirma in their previous game was a come-from-behind effort where they crawled out of a 15-point deficit to secure a win in overtime. Coach Victolero emphasized the need for his team to show consistency and full effort throughout the game to avoid finding themselves in the same predicament again.
One play that proved to be the game-changer in their previous game was Adrian Wong’s steal off Jordan Williams that set up import Antonio Hester to send the game into overtime. Hester collected 40 points and 17 rebounds, proving his worth as a valuable asset to the team’s success.
As the Hotshots gear up for their game against Blackwater, they know that they need to win this one to have a shot at the top four. “We have a slim chance of getting to the top four, pero we want parang momentum pa rin going to the playoffs. Kaya very important ‘yung game bukas,” said Victolero.
Catch the game at 3 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo, and let’s see if Magnolia can secure a spot in the top four.
