The Rain or Shine Elastopainters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Super LPG Fuelmasters at 3:00 PM on March 1, 2023 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum at Quezon City, Metro Manila.
The Elastopainters probably need to push their emergency button if they wanted to keep their third conference alive and dodge a three-game losing skid. At the same time, the Fuelmasters will try to maintain their pace and snag their three-game winning streak.
Get ready for an exciting game as the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Phoenix Fuel Masters face off in the PBA Governors Cup. The stakes are high as a win for Phoenix would give them a 4-5 record and improve their chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Rain or Shine is aiming to spoil Phoenix’s chances by improving its own record to 3-6 and taking over the eighth spot. The game is a must-win for both teams and promises to be a thrilling match.
Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao is confident that his team can deliver, despite the fact that new import Jordan Tolbert has only just arrived and has limited time to gel with the team. “Kailangan lang mailusot bukas. Bukas ang critical kasi we have very little run to run our plays with our import and gel him with our locals,” said Guiao. He is also optimistic about the performance of his local players, who played well in their previous games even without an import.
On the other hand, Phoenix is riding high on their recent back-to-back wins, with the rookie Encho Serrano leading the charge in their last game against Converge. “Gustong-gusto ko talagang tumulong sa team kaya ginawa ko ‘yung best ko,” said Serrano, who scored all of his career-high 28 points in the second half. Coach Jamike Jarin is impressed with Serrano’s performance and believes the team’s defense will play a crucial role in the game against Rain or Shine.
“They (FiberXers) really have a good defensive set. They’re very good screeners, so we really wanted to disrupt their flow in offense. We did a great job in the first quarter but eventually in the latter part of the first quarter and early part of the second we struggled a bit,” said Jarin.
Both teams are determined to win this game and secure their spot in the quarterfinals. Rain or Shine will rely on the experience of Coach Guiao and the talent of their local players, while Phoenix will look to the momentum they have built up in their last two games and the impressive performance of their rookie star, Encho Serrano.
It’s going to be an intense and exciting game, so be sure not to miss it! As Coach Guiao puts it, “Kailangang manalo bukas… kailangan talunin iyon.”
