by | Posted on: May 6th, 2014 | No Comments | Uncategorized

Congratulations to Kevin Durant who is now “Mr. Reliable” for winning the best individual award in the NBA. KD led the league in scoring with 32 PPG where he tallied 40-plus points in 14 occassions that ends up a 59-23 Win Loss  record for his Oklahoma City Thunder.

Lebron James finished second this time, Blake Griffin is third while Joakim Noah and James Harden took the fourth and fifth place respectively.

NBA Draft by nbatalk247.com

We have now entered the month of May and we will know which teams will pack up and go fishing and teams that will advance to the second round as they continue to strive and reach the NBA finals. While the league is busy for 2013-14 Playoffs, the other part of the NBA will stage another important event on May 20 to reveal which team will have the 1st pick for the upcoming 2014 draft class. Two weeks ago Panini has released its 2013-14 Intrigue Basketball and on that product there is a chance to pull a 2014 NBA Draft X-Change bonus card. Many has said that this class is deep and will give birth to another once-in-a-decade type of player. Now we’ll check in Ebay how hype this product is based on its completed listings. (more…)

Kevin Durant’s new Nickname

by | Posted on: May 1st, 2014 | No Comments | Uncategorized

“KD”, “the Durantula”, “the Second Coming”, “K-Dog”, “K-Smoove” and last February 18, 2014 he told ESPN that he wanted to be called as “The Servant” adding to his several famous nicknames.

But this morning an angry newspaper has another moniker for Durant and this might not sound good, he is now “Mr. Unreliable”. His OKC is now behind with Memphis (3-2) and the Grizzlies can close it on their home court on Games 6.

Durant should take this criticism to be his motivation and redeem himself after shooting 40 percent in his first five games of his team’s first round series.

Dr. Jack Ramsay Patch

by | Posted on: May 1st, 2014 | No Comments | Uncategorized

The Portland Trail Blazers will honor the late Dr. Jack Ramsay by having a dr. jack 77 patch on their jersey as they try to close their first round playoff series against the Houston Rockets.

Jack Ramsay passed away at the age of 89 who coached the Portland Trail Blazers to its 1977 championship year.

Hopefully Panini will feature this patch on its future products.

I have decided that apart from basketball trading cards I will be soon entering another hobby realm which is comic book collection and it is a perfect timing for me as Dubai based Kinokuniya will have its “Free Comic Book” day this coming May 3, 2014.

Below are some of the titles that will be available for free during the event.

2013-14 Panini Select Basketball

2013-14 Panini Select Basketball

To me Panini Select Basketball is the direct rival of Panini Prizm Basketball because of its shiny design and of course its parallels. Completing all variations is an accomplishment for any collector, looking at them in person is breathtaking.

Looking at the Pre-Ink Peek on Knight’s Lance, it seems that the signature version has five variations. It has Blue, Green, Purple Gold and the elusive Black. If these cards are on the way to be signed by the players, then expect that Durant and Kobe will be live on this product. Panini are really true to their statement that they also hate redemptions.

More on the Knight’s Lance blog.

Gordon Hayward and Tina Thompson in Philippines

by | Posted on: April 27th, 2014 | No Comments | Uncategorized

While the NBA is very busy with the 2013-14 NBA Playoffs and discussing the just recent Donald Sterling racist incident, Gordon Hayward together with WNBA legend Tina Thompson visits my beloved country the Philippines for the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA national training camp.

Apart from the mentioned event, the duo also graced the opening of the new NBA Cafe located at the top floor of SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City. Of course Philippines is a basketball loving country, Hayward and Thompson got some real basketball question instead of what did you eat at your hotel? They have asked which team is their bet on the current playoff, Thompson voted for the Spurs while Hayward thinks the Heat and complete the three-peat.
