After the grueling match of the quarterfinals, three teams that finished in the top-four has moved to the semis while one from the bottom four was able to make an upset.

The Meralco Bolts was the first squad that punched their ticket going to the semi-finals after they toppled the Alaska Aces.

The second team that booked their slot is the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel after they eliminated their sister-team, the San Miguel Beermen. That victory also ended the hunt of the Beermen for the elusive grand slam.

The third squad that able to qualify is the TNT KaTropa. They needed to orchestrate a massive run in the final quarter to subdue the defending champion, the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok. That victory, however, cost them one player and that RR Pogoy who injured his back and might not be able to suit up in the next round of the playoffs.

The final slot of the semis went to NorthPort Batang Pier. The squad of coach Pido Jarencio was able to complete the upset where they needed to push their do-or-die match to three overtime periods.

The 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semi-finals round will kickoff after the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
