
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake which struck Agusan del Sur area on Sunday was felt in regions of Mindanao, seismologists said.

The tremble struck at a low depth of 11 kilometers, some 6 kilometers east of La Paz town, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Intensity 4 was sensed in Butuan City.
“The intensity is felt generally by people indoors and by some people outdoors. Light sleepers are awakened. Vibration is felt like a passing of heavy truck. Hanging objects swing considerably,” according to Phivolcs.
“Dinner, plates, glasses, windows and doors rattle. Floors and walls of wood framed buildings creak. Standing motor cars may rock slightly. Liquids in containers are slightly disturbed. Water in containers oscillate strongly. Rumbling sound may sometimes be heard.”

At the same time, a strength of intensity 2 was felt in Cagayan de Oro City and also intensity 1 in Kidapawan City.
Instrumental intensity 1 have also been documented in the cities of Kidapawan, Surigao, Sarangani and Bislig.
Phivolcs stated that aftershocks are expected from the earth quake, that was tectonic in origin.
