ABL Recap: PJ Ramos Helps Alab Keep Perfect Record Versus Slingers

San Miguel Alab Pilipinas center PJ Ramos help protect his team keep their unblemished win-loss record against the visiting team, the Singapore Slingers, 88-78.


Ramos has just another monster game as he registered 26 points and 17 rebounds. As usual his three-point shooting and perimeter threats were once again all present to keep the opponent’s defense confused.

If the 7-foot-4 is operating inside the paint, the coach of Singaporean squad needed to throw several of his players’ bodies only to stop the Puerto-Rican big-man.

His fellow import Renaldo Balkman chalk up 20 points and 16 boards while Ray Parks Jr., added 18 markers for the winning club.

Alab controlled the entire quarter especially in the third quarter where they mounted their biggest lead of 18 points.

Then the former Columbian Dyip import John Fields able to figure out how to manufacture points against PJ Ramos who was his main defender.

If there’s an opportunity, Fields shoots from the outside which also pulled away Ramos from his comfort zone. With that adjustment, Fields smaller teammates able to operate in the post which gave them the needed momentum to make a comeback.

The Slingers had its last chance at the last few minutes of the fourth quarter where Fields able to convert a couple of three-pointers which put his team in a striking distance, 75-71.

With only 25 seconds left in the ball-game, the Singapore team has no choice but to commit a foul in order to stop the clock. However, in that instance, they’re not yet in the penalty.

Alab made an inbound near their their basket and all of the sudden there was a defensive collapse as the Slingers seems to forgot to foul immediately. There were a lot of seconds got wasted and on the 00:02 mark at last Ray Parks Jr., was sent to the free-throw line.


Parks delivered the two charities without a sweat and that added more points to the home team as time expired.

John Fields was the leading scorer for Singapore with his 35 points while his teammate Jerran Young added 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists.

Alab is now enjoying their 4-0 slate while Singapore Slingers dropped to 5-3.
