The Aces is the 10th PBA team to hire an import for its second conference bid.
Few weeks ago there are rumors flying across social media that a former NBA All-Star and a former teammate of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James will join the Alaska Aces in its second conference campaign.
That rumored player is Carlos Boozer, however that bubble was quickly burst by none other than the head coach of the Alaska Aces, Alex Compton.
According to his interview with spin.ph, the seasoned coach mentioned that it’s not true.
So instead of Boozer, they hired Octavius Ellis who stands at 6’10 and an inside operator. Although he wasn’t picked during the 2016 NBA Draft, Octavius still have a direct connection with the NBA as his cousin Monta Ellis continue to do his run-and-gun tempo with the Indiana Pacers.
The inside toughness of the Aces will be upgraded with the addition of Ellis which probably makes the “Hustle Brothers” happy.
Calvin Abueva and Vic Manuel will have an added strength protecting the rim if in defense mode and a rim rocker if in offensive mode.
