The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on January 27, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
One of the hottest teams in the PBA right now, the Aces are looking for their fourth consecutive wins while the Elite wanted to get back in winning track after a two-game slide.
Coach Alex Compton and the rest of the Alaska squad has slayed one of the big dragons of the league after they have defeated the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel few days ago. Of course, one of the factors that led the team to victory is its trademark pressure defense and once again it will be seen in their 4:30 PM schedule.
Although his team is heavily favored in today’s game, coach Compton doesn’t take their opponent lightly.
“I really respect Blackwater,” said Compton. “I’ve gotten to know coach Leo (isaac) a little bit. He’s a good man and he’s really been doing a good job with that team. I would think fans should keep their eyes on Blackwater.”
Poy Erram, Mac Belo and Allein Maliksi are the three Blackwater players that the Aces bench chieftain is concerned of. Erram who is an instant double-double performer this conference while Belo found its rhythm which makes him one of the top draft picks last season. Then there’s Maliksi who is always a threat from inside and outside.
“I’m really impressed with Poy Erram, (Mac) Belo, with the whole way coach Leo has them playing,” noted Compton. “Obviously, coach Leo’s a nice pickup for them. Allein Maliksi is one of the best shooters. So they have a lot of threats and they’re a young exciting team,” he added.
Coach Leo Austria on the other hand wanted his troops to go out and throw the best they have in order to stop the two-game slump.
“We need to have an A-game tomorrow to bounce back from the two consecutive losses we had,” said Isaac.
