The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Columbian Dyip at 4:30 P.M. on September 20, 2019 live from the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Both the Aces and the Dyip are the featured games in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup curtain-raiser this afternoon at the MOA Arena.
Columbian Dyip head coach Johnedel Cardel has entered his fourth conference with the franchise and on paper, it seems that this might be his most awaited time for him to bring the franchise to another level which is to reach the playoffs.
Columbian has off-loaded one of their scoring machines, Jerramy King probably to give CJ Perez more time in the court and take the offensive responsibility.
Likewise, they have added Juami Tiongson, Lervin Flores and Joseph Gabayni in their roster.
Last conference, coach Cardel and his squad thought they have five winnable games but lost in the end game.
“Last conference may mga five games we could have won,” said Cardel
“Kung naipanalo lang namin kahit dalawa doon nakapasok n asana kami ng quarterfinals. Pero that remains the goal right now, to win as many games as we can and see where that takes us.”
Talking about team re-tool, Alaska also has its own off-conference moves to improve their chances to snag a championship after a long-time drought.
Jeffrey Cariaso is now the head coach of the team and they have added Abu Tratter and Maverick Ahanmisi in their roster via trade.
Though reported available the Aces didn’t bring back last year’s Best Import Mike Harris instead they hired Justin Watts.
Dyip’s head coach Johnedel Cardel hopes that Alaska still working on their new system and that will go in his favor.
“Siyempre, sana hindi pa enough ‘yung adjustment period nila,” Cardel said.
