The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok at 7:00 P.M. on December 20, 2017 live from San Juan Arena.
Coach Chito Victolero will have an intact line-up when they start their 43rd PBA season this evening. Instead of adding more help in their line-up, the franchise that won multiple championships in the past has opted to change their moniker.
From Star Hotshots, they are now be called as the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok. This might give a mentality of a new beginning for the team.
The Hotshots always in the top four teams in all of the last season’s conferences but failed to advance to the championship round.
Paul Lee who went to surgery after Star Hotshots got eliminated from the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup is confident that he can return in time of the start of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup.
“The doctors have told me that at least, I’ll be ready by the first week of December,” Lee said. “Everything’s fine. My recovery has been good and there are hard drills where my injury no longer reacts anymore,” he added.
In contrary, the Alaska Aces had struggled in their PBA 42nd season campaign. They got eliminated by Barangay Ginebra in the 2016-17 PBA Philippine Cup Quarterfinals round despite of having a twice-to-beat advantage.
In the Commissioner’s Cup they managed to logged four wins and the struggle continue to Governors’ Cup where they only made three victories.
One of the reasons of not desirable campaign was injuries and this All-Filipino conference, the Aces shopped new players from the Rookie Draft and free agency.
They acquired Jeron Teng and Davon Potts from the draft while the 2014 third overall pick Ronald Pascual from the free agent market.
Pascual was once a member of the “Pinatubo Trio” of San Sebastian Stags composed by Calvin Abueva and Ian Sangalang.
