The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head quarterfinals game against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok at 7:00 P.M. on July 10, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Quarterfinals round will continue this evening and it will be the clash of seed number 2 against seed number 7.
Looking at their standings at the end of the elimination round of both the Philippine and Commissioner’s Cup, the Alaska Aces seems found its winning touches compared to a season ago.
Not only that, they also had at least a five-game winning streak in both first and second conference. However, after their battle against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel the Uytengsu basketball team franchise have decided to replace their import.
Here comes Diamon Simpson, he was the Aces’ reinforcement player that last time they won a championship back in 2012-13 Commissioner’s Cup.
With twice-to-beat advantage on their side, Alaska coach Alex Compton thinks that playing Magnolia will be a tough battle.
“Magnolia has been one of the best teams in the PBA for the past two years now. This will be a battle. They are very talented and are doing a great job playing as a team. We are expecting them to be very very tough,” said Compton.
As for Magnolia, they needed to fine tune its roster and seems found the right import in Wayne Chism who is also not new in playing in the PBA. Chism was once a recipient of Best Import trophy back in his Rain or Shine Elasto Painters days.
With Chism, Magnolia has swept its last two assignment and what’s more they have now the much healthier Ian Sangalang.
Magnolia Hotshots which was previously known as the Purefoods TJ Hotdogs seems like that they will use its popular tag line “Slowly but Surely” as a motivation.
“We’re the underdog, but we’re ready to battle and my players know what it takes to win this game. We’ll take it one one game at a time,” Victolero added.
