The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 7:00 P.M. on August 29, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Both the Aces and the Fuel Masters are aiming for the number one spot in the ongoing 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup. The thing is, only one team is going to succeed after the last buzzer of the Wednesday main game.
Apart from that battle of the standings position, the other interesting feature of tonight’s game is the Calvin Abueva vs the Aces match.
Before the start of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup, Abueva was dealt to Phoenix in exchange for Karl Dehesa and a future draft pick.
Probably Alaska wanted to end the no-show problem caused by the “Beast” which he again committed last 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
However, if you ask Calvin if he will take the 7:00 PM game as personal, this is his response:
“Wala namang personalan yan,” he said. “Yung sa court, sa court. Sa labas, iba kami.”
The 2013 PBA Rookie of the Year seems like found an immediate new home in Phoenix as he continue to deliver stellar performance. Abueva currently averaging 12.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in his first two games under coach Louie Alas.
For the Aces on the other hand, coach Alex Compton is hoping that their flaming hands will continue this evening after lambasting the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters few nights ago.
“I hope we could shoot the ball the way we shot it (Sunday),” he said.
For the first time in his Alaska career, Simon Enciso broke out and torched KaTropa with his 30-point scoring output.
Enciso also went unstoppable from the three-point territory as he swished the basketball on his 9-of-12 shooting.
