The Alaska Aces is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Rain or Shine (ROS) Elasto Painters at 4:15 P.M. on September 20, 2017 live from Ynares Center-Antipolo.
The Elasto Painters will continue its push on acquiring the twice-to-beat advantage going to the second round of the 2017 PBA Governonrs’ Cup while the Aces will take on a spoiler role.
Alaska are one of teams which are already out of the championship contention of the current tournament after Blackwater Elite defeated GlobalPort Batang Pier last Sunday.
Although already eliminated, coach Alex Compton still wanted to add another win for his team.
“We are eliminated but we will compete and honor the game,” stated Aces coach Alex Compton.
“Rain or Shine is tough and playing well but we will do our best to give them playoff-level basketball.”
Coach Caloy Garcia on the other hand wanted his troops not to get complacent but continue to strive hard and get a win.
That is precisely what Garcia is wary of. “Alaska isn’t a team that you can relax against,” he said.
“We have to come out with the mentality of wanting to win rather than just playing the game if we want to win.”
Raymond “Rock en Roll” Almazan continues his stellar performance in their last outing against the crowd favorite, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Almazan scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds but not enough to topple the “Never-Say-Die” team coached by triangle offense expert, Tim Cone.
Before Alaska run through a 13-game losing skid, the last team they’ve won was against Rain or Shine.
