Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player Andray Blatche is back in the Philippines and will be joining the national team on Monday for practice.
According to coach Ryan Gregorio who serves as a special assistant to SBP President says that the 6-foot-11 former Brookly Nets arrived in the country at 4:00 PM today.
He’ll suit up with the team in its 10-day training before he fly to China to rejoin his team in the Chinese League.
Blatche was also reported to join the practices of NLEX Road Warriors, the team handled by coach Yeng Guiao in the Philippines Basketball Association.
“From what I hear si Blatche is very intelligent and he can adapt easily,” said coach Guiao as he now try to integrate the naturalized player to his basketball system.
“We have to be able to test ourselves in a tune-up game or be able to simulate yung game situation para makita natin talaga kung nakahanda na o hindi pa,” he added.
Gilas Pilipinas will resume its campaign for the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers on Februaru 21 against the Qatar team then on February 24 it’ll be against the team Kazakhstan.
All of the Gilas remaining games will be played outside the Philippines.
